ISPO 2012: Mio announces the Mio Cyclo series

30 January 2012 For Immediate Release

Mio Technology, the worldwide supplier of Portable Navigation Devices (PNDs), is today announcing the launch of its Cyclo range at ISPO 2012. The range, aimed at the cycling market in the UK, includes the Mio Cyclo 300 and the Mio Cyclo 305; both devices provide navigation and features for recreational and competitive cyclists.

Munich, 30th January 2012 – The devices, due to hit UK stores later in 2012, are packed with unique features, including:

Surprise Me feature

The Mio Cyclo range allows riders to easily navigate from A to B, or to follow preferred routes. However, if the rider chooses the Surprise Me feature, the Mio Cyclo will put together a random route based on entered time or distance, regardless of current location. Ideal and easy for anyone who has hit all the routes in their home area, and for those who like to be surprised in an unknown region.

Preinstalled maps

Open Street Map and TeleAtlas maps are preinstalled on the devices, so a rider can start using the Mio Cyclo device straight out of the box. And if desired, the integrated car navigation mode can give turn-by-turn directions to the nearest or starting point of a bicycle route.

Train and share experiences

The Mio Cyclo measures time, speed, distance, height, calorie consumption and more. Using this data and the route information, a rider can then use the Mio Share Desktop software to not only keep track of a route history and training schedules, but also to share them with others.

Crystal clear

The anti-glare 3” touch screen allows all information to be displayed in a clearly visible manner, both for the recreational cyclist and the trained mountain biker or racer. The impact resistant and waterproof casing (IPX7) makes the Mio Cyclo resistant to any type of weather.

Extra features of the Mio Cyclo 305

The Mio Cyclo 305 is packed with the same practical features as the Mio Cyclo 300, but comes with an ANT+ sensor, allowing connection to the heart rate monitor and cadence/wheel sensor, to tune all options to a desired training schedule.

Iwan Van Hende, PM Director Outdoor & Fitness of Mio Cyclo Series said: “Cycling has always been a healthy and fun family activity but as cities become more bike friendly, and as technology allows people to create training regimes and compete against others, we are seeing a boom in cyclists on the roads and country lanes across the UK. The Cyclo range aims to tap into this market, with unique functionality that will appeal to both competitive and recreational riders.”
