Brussels, Belgium, 13 April 2007: Mio Technology Europe, a top three vendor in Europe of portable navigation devices, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team. Starting with the Tour de France competition, Mio Technology will be the official personal navigation device sponsor of the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team for the remainder of the 2007 cycling season.

“Mio Technology supports the spirit of competition and is enthusiastic to be backing the impressive Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team which has proven itself time and time again,” says Paul Notteboom, president of Mio Technology. “Dedication, team spirit and the desire to deliver the best results are qualities that we believe in and this reinforced our choice to sponsor a team that identifies with the same values.”

The 94th edition of the Tour de France starts on 7 July in London, England, with 20 stages covering a distance of 3547 km and ending on the Champs Elysees in Paris on 29 July. 2007 marks the third year for the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team in the Tour de France, although the organization traces its roots to 1989.

Mio Technology’s products are equally suitable for use inside and outside the car, which makes them interesting for cycling fans as well. Each of the 20 Team Cars following and taking care of the cycling team will be equipped with a Mio navigation device for the entire duration of the cycling season.

“Technology is vital in every stage of the Tour and in every facet of the team both on and off the race course,” said Johan Bruyneel, Sports Director, Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team. “A partner like Mio Technology offers a strong fit for our team and staff in a sport as international as cycling. We are on the road more than 200 days each year and the Mio Technology will ensure that we’re productive and tracking precisely toward our destination every time.”

The Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team has gotten off to a great start in 2007, winning the overall titles at the Paris-Nice (Pro Tour), Tour of California and Castilla y Leon.
