DC* and Canalys have recently released their latest findings regarding the global handheld and mobile GPS navigation device industry and have once again confirmed Mio Technology’s top three ranking in both categories.
his month, Canalys released its latest data on worldwide integrated on-board mobile GPS navigation device market share and again confirmed Mio Technology’s third place position. Mio Technology’s market share increased year on year from 8.7% in Q3 2006 to 9.9% in Q3 2007. Canalys also highlighted Mio Technology’s 151.1% year on year shipment growth from 349,340 units in Q3 2006 to 877,110 units in Q3 2007.
Rachel Lashford, Manager of Canalys APAC, said “Mio Technology has now seen six quarters of sequential growth in its global mobile navigation device business and has consistently been in the top three for over a year. As well as being a leading vendor in the Asia Pacific region, it recently entered the top three in the booming US market, narrowly overtaking TomTom in Q3 2007.”
In November, IDC* also released its latest data concerning the global handheld industry in Q3 2007 and once again ranked Mio Technology as the world’s third largest vendor. Mio Technology’s market share in handheld devices grew from 9.8% in Q3 2006 to 11.2% in Q3 2007 despite a 43.5% decline in worldwide shipments. Mio Technology holds a significant market share lead over the fourth place position at 5.4%.
